Each year there are several bike rides organized by various charities, councils and groups. The Kislingbury Village Ride. This is usually in the first week of September and is open to all without charge. The ride starts and finishes at the Sun, Kislingbury. Participants can choose a short, medium or full 33 mile route. There is a barbeque afterwards for a modest charge and the atmosphere is very informal and friendly. The organizer is currently John Dunkley on 01604 831318. Click here to see pictures of the 2000 ride. The Churches Sponsored RideThis is also in early September and is to raise money for the preservation and restoration of some of the 200 Northamptonshire churches. Riders are expected to collect promises of donations as a fixed amount or per church visited. Grants were made to 24 churches from the money raised in 1999. It is organized by the Northamptonshire Historic Churches Trust. In the year 2000, 2000 cyclists took part. It is an opportunity to see the interiors of many of the churches which are nowadays locked to the public. So you do not need to be religious to have an interesting ride; it is also worthwhile for those who appreciate the importance of churches in our cultural history. The Brixworth Bike BonanzaThis is held in National bike week in June and consists of various events including guided rides.
