What shall we try to achieve?

 Information exchange on cycling

Let as many people as possible know the activities of

    The CTC
    The Right to Ride network
    Wellingborough Cycling Forum
    Northamptonshire County Council
    South Northants, Daventry and other district councils
    What Northampton Borough Council should be doing
    Gather knowledge on what others are doing

 

2.              Set out campaigning aims

Who we are seeking to influence
What do we want them to do different ?
Which individuals in organisations are to be targeted ?

 

3.              Recruit members to

Assist with work
Provide information
Contribute funds
Take part in activities

 

4.              Provide encouragement to people wanting to cycle

 

Provide a focal point for an network of websites, newsletters from other organisations and clubs and statements from councils

           Make more widely known  the policies, achievements or failures of  councils on cycling

 

Strategy - what to do to achieve goals 

Tactics and tools 

1.               Establish reputation as the source of information on cycling via web and newsletter by

Brand name

Integrity, know what is what and tell it like it is

Comprehensive, cover all aspects of cycling

Perhaps news from clubs and Council's

Be open to other people's input and ideas

Work regularly and consistently and persistently

Allocate and delegate tasks to willing individuals

Keep accounts, raise funds, have a membership list

Swap links with other sites, notify councils of aims

Some publicity in local paper, bike shops etc

Hope eventually to be democratic and have consultation

(Long term) Offer training advice and consultation on cycling matters

 

Monitoring and targets 

Get Website working by the end of August 2000

Send out printed newsletter by end of September

Count web hits, count number who subscribe

Count number of comments

Make notes of successes in influencing events

Number of partners who support financially or in other ways
